Boredom is not that bad, if you use it wisely
Fighting boredom can seem like a good thing to do but it might not necessarily be the case. We often try to get rid of it as soon as possible, thinking this needs to go at all costs.
If we define being bored as a lack of potential action and a feeling of missing out on something more interesting, then sure, I don’t want that either. But if boredom means you did everything else possible (or so you think) then that’s a perfect opportunity to reassess your priorities. If we’re not careful, we take the time to feel bored and then immediately try to find a fix for this situation (and we’ll most likely end up not choosing something productive or useful in the long run).
Having the time to feel bored is amazing: this means we can reassess what’s next and get ready for more. There’s never a dull moment if we take all the time we can to go forward a bit more and reach our goals.
I’m not saying to work all the time but I feel that if everything is in order and you know your next move, you normally don’t end up being bored in the traditional sense. But if you do, you know what to do and change this around and simply make use of this time wisely.
So overall, any time can be good to reflect on what’s next. Keeping a goal in mind helps us keep the focus on what’s needed.
