Feeling like a bad boss
What’s a lousy boss, really? Let’s discuss that.
To me, a bad boss is someone who cares first about their own interest. It’s someone who wants results but without thinking about the employees. It’s someone who may have ambition and be seen as prosperous. But in the end, you can’t really be successful if you don’t care about others.
Empathy is a reciprocating gift: it gives back.
So why do I talk about that? Let me explain. At work, as in life, we encounter “bosses” all around us: they either help us grow or hinder us.
All these persons we encounter can have a pretty significant impact on our lives if we let them. The question is: what do you want to do about it?
Now come you and me: don’t you think we play this role for ourselves? We often tend to be the judge, jury and executioner of our every action. We listen to the voices of negativity everywhere and decide we’re not good enough. We also can be full of ourselves and feel we’re superior.
So this begs the question: why not play the excellent boss instead? Why not be fair and just and give yourself more credit?
It’s very easy to forget to treat yourself right, and it may sound cliché and obvious, but being kind and a better person starts by being kind to you first.
So whenever you feel like the evil boss, remember to take a step back and see what you have achieved so far and that it’s no way to treat someone that good.
Be kind to others, especially yourself: you never know what will happen and how much good can come.
What do you think? Let me know.
