Less stress? Yes, please!
We often like to think we know what’s next in our life but the truth is we don’t always know. So since we don’t have a clue of what could happen, most of the time, why dwell on it and stress?
It’s easy to say, sure, but that’s true: we waste countless hours and days wondering and questioning ourselves to try and figure out what could happen in any given situation.
The thing we forget is we have a degree of control over that and it’s called planning. Having a certain level of preparation for some events is not only a good thing, it is essential. So thinking about it is still needed but maybe in a new light?
Of course, it’s not always easy or possible to do so. We can’t plan for everything but if at least we try and do our best to have a little something thought out, that’s already a great step in the right direction, at least that’s what I believe.
In some cases, we don’t plan because we don’t want to think about the situation. Here’s a gloomy example: If I die tomorrow, what will happen with my family? Will they be able to pay the bills and have everything they need? It’s not a selfish thought at all to think about that: it’s preparing for the inevitability of life but again we don’t want to imagine this scenario most likely because it makes it real.
I’ll admit that thinking about this example makes me very uncomfortable but it shouldn’t and that’s because I didn’t plan properly yet as far as I can tell.
So I know what should be on my to-do list for the next week. As sad as it may sound, it will give me some peace of mind as any plan can provide: a little less stress in an already stressful life, why not?
