Listen up!
Today I heard something I only learned after many years with my wife.
It’s often stronger than anything I can think of and harder to control than you might imagine. I like to solve puzzles and find solutions to problems. So whenever my wife would come up to me with a situation that required my attention, I would focus on finding the solution right away because a problem needs an answer, right?
Wrong! Not every problem needs to be solved that way.
And so this leads me to what I heard today: men are, for the most part, all like that because they need to act and find the solution to the problem because otherwise, it could mean death.
Of course, this is a bit dramatic, but in reality, it’s not too far-fetched.
What I learned to do, and in fact, I heard about today, were the same thing: listen. The whole purpose of this is so the other person feels like being heard and that matters more than an immediate answer to solve everything.
And that goes for many other occasions in life too. That’s why we say we have 2 ears and one mouth so we can hear twice as much as we speak.
Do you agree? Let me know.
