The mindset shift
I’m not as good as I could be and that’s a wonderful thing. It means there’s room for improvement.
Am I good enough? Did I do a good job? Do I matter? Am I worthy?
These are questions I asked myself for a long while until recently. What changed? I started running.
You’ll probably wonder why this makes sense so here we go: I ran before so it’s not completely new to me but I was casually running without a goal in mind. Now, I decided I want to run a marathon so I started with a specific program to follow.
The first day, I was halfway in and my body was already about to give up. But I wasn’t! I kept pushing and finished the program for the day. It isn’t much in itself but the feeling I had after finishing this was exhilarating. So naturally, the next day I ran again, and again!
So with all this being said, my point is: I pushed myself beyond what I thought possible and it felt great so my self-confidence went up a notch. This essentially told me that I am able to do much more if I have a goal in mind. Just like that, It helped me with the way I looked at things for the rest of the week: it seemed easier to tackle it after that and my workout was much easier than the run so that’s another added benefit.
I feel like a new me: it’s great, it’s awesome, it’s THE shift I was looking for, the clarity (well maybe this has to do with me cutting coffee this week as well but who knows?)
What do you think? Do you have areas in your life you’d like to improve? Let’s talk!
