To have or not to have, that is the question!
By being too attached to material things, it burns a flame in you that “feels” warm, nice, and helpful at first but in fact, it burns you from the inside out. That’s why we’re called “consumers”.
In fact, those belongings eat you up and often make you more stressed and anxious about losing them. They end up controlling you.
Sure, having nice things can be interesting but as soon as having them makes you think you gain a certain social status or that it’s a sign of your self-confidence, that’s when the balance tips over.
As they say: what you own ends up owning you.
That’s exactly why I started questioning myself further when I think of buying something new:
Is it really needed?
Will this help me accomplish my overall goals?
Will this reduce friction in my everyday life?
Will I regret buying it 2 days later?
Let’s not lie to ourselves and just be honest enough to ask those questions and make sure we truly mean whatever we decide to answer. That way, we might reconsider buying something we don’t really need and save some money for something better… or to pay bills maybe?
What do you think? Let’s talk!
